American West Metals uncovers new high-grade copper discovery at Storm Project in Canada

American West Metals has announced a significant new copper discovery at its Storm Project in Canada, revealing high-grade results of up to 13.5% copper.

The company’s exploration efforts, which include 20,000 meters of drilling across 128 reverse circulation holes and 14 diamond holes at the Storm and Tempest sites, have yielded promising results. The newly identified Squall discovery represents the second major find of near-surface copper mineralization in the Southern Graben Area of the Storm Project this year.

Drilling of an anomaly identified through moving loop electromagnetics (MLEM) at the Thunder Prospect intersected strong visual copper sulphides starting from approximately 181.4 meters downhole. Notable results include a top hit of 1.5 meters at 13.5% copper and 23 grams per tonne (g/t) silver from 54.9 meters. Additional results include 3.1 meters at 3.9% copper and 10.5 g/t silver from 57.9 meters, with a notable interval of 1.5 meters at 5.9% copper and 16 g/t silver.

Further mineralization was discovered outside of the existing resource, with results such as 27.4 meters at 1.1% copper and 3.5 g/t silver from 96 meters, and 4.6 meters at 3.1% copper and 7.7 g/t silver from 109.7 meters.

American West Metals is also conducting a deep-searching 400-meter loop MLEM survey at the Tornado and Blizzard areas, where electromagnetic (EM) anomalies have been identified. The ongoing MLEM surveys, running parallel to exploration drilling, have already highlighted two conductive features of interest in the Tornado area.

Additionally, a 1,300-meter by 500-meter EM anomaly south and below the Cirrus Deposit is being drilled, with plans to reach a depth of 600 meters.

The Storm Project, located on Somerset Island in Nunavut, boasts a maiden resource of 17.5 million tonnes at 1.2% copper and 3.4 g/t silver, representing 205,000 tonnes of copper and 1.9 million ounces of silver. The shallow copper mineralization at Storm is open in all directions. The project spans 2,200 kmĀ² within the Polaris mineral district, situated approximately 120 km south of Resolute Bay.

American West Metals holds an 80% stake in the Storm Project, with the remaining interest owned by Aston Bay.
